Post Pandemic Work Patterns

It is often said that Covid has changed everything – nothing will be as it was pre-pandemic.

Numerous reports have begun to circulate, the most recent one to catch my attention is the “ What Workers Want 2021– the end of 9=5” report from recruitment conglomerate Hays.

It makes for some interesting, and from an employers’ point of view sobering, reading. It details the flexibility that the response to the Covid pandemic has brought to the work-place and beyond and suggests, rightly in my view, that workers will want to retain as much of this new won flexibility as employers will allow.

For employers, especially those recruiting in tight labour markets, failure to recognise and respond to these new- found worker freedoms will make attracting and, more importantly, retaining the skills on which their businesses depend all the more difficult.

The report is well worth a read.
